Air Jordan 5 (V)

November 27th, 2009

The Air Jordan V (5) was free in 1990. Phil Jackson took over as precede coach for the Bulls in the 89-90 spice. This gave the Bull’s a mega boost and everything was hurried. Jordan kept on singing his plucky and set a personal best when scoring 69 points in a resolute against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Once again Hatfield came up with a revolutionary propose for the new shoe. A few basics were picked up from its predecessor but it featured a great silver tounge and a plain-through rubber sole which gave it a wholly single look. Also there were lacelocks which made it painless to leash them on.The mean is rumoured to be inspired by the Mustang fighter plane and the most evident elements that shows this are the shark teeth shapes on the midsole.

The bright rubber soled would restore in later designs such as Air Jordan 6 (VI), Air Jordan 11 (XI) and Air Jordan 16 (XVI) and has confusion numerous collectors since it very easily turns golden. Once it’s blond there is no way to get it back to its initial look. Seems the only way to except them is to collect the shoes in a cool and dry place and never take them out of their box.The shoes were retro’d in minute 1999 in ashen-fire red and black-met silver and once again there was a great request for them.

Air Jordan 4 (IV)

November 19th, 2009

The Air Jordan IV (4) was released in 1989. Michael kept on playing in a confident and dominating way and won numerous honors and awards.

The design, by Mr. Hatfield, wasn’t as revolutionary as the previous designs and kept a lot of the feeling from the third model. The Air Jordan shoes had started to get major popularity by now and sold out every here and there.

When the Air Jordan IV (4)’s were retro’d 1999 in Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro 1999 - White / Black  and Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro 1999 - Black / Cement Grey, it was crazy. Stores sold out after a few hours and everyone seemed to want a pair. As you can see a totally different approach to when the Air Jordan 1 (I) , Air Jordan 2 (II) and Air Jordan 3 (III) were first retroed.

Nike, or Jordan Brand, realized that this was a golden opportunity to cash in so they started releasing so called Retro+ models. These had a similar design to the original but featured new colors or some minor design changes.

The other special Air Jordan 4 (IV) in 2005 Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - Laser. Using the same technology used on the Air Jordan 13, these pairs were given a very unique look, to say the least…

The Air Jordan III (3)

November 11th, 2009

The Air Jordan III (3) was released in 1988. The 1987-1988 season was when Michael would receive his first NBA  Most Valuable Player award. He also crushed the competition in the Slam Dunk contest and led the Bull’s to their best result since the 1974-1975 season. Well he actually won all the major honors one can think of.
The new shoe was excellent. The design was totally different from the Air Jordan 1 (I) and Air Jordan 2 (II) and was the first pair of Air Jordans that showed a visible air sole. Behind it stood Tinker Hatfield who since then have designed every Air Jordan model up to the Air Jordan 3 (III).
This was also the very first Air Jordan to feature the Jumpman logotype instead of the Wings-logo that was on the Air Jordan 1 (I) and Air Jordan 2 (II).
When the Air Jordan 3 (III) was re-retroed in 2001 it was no surprise they sold very well. However, only three different colors were released and after great pressure from the Air Jordan fans Jordan Brand found they could not escape releasing the Air Jordan 3 (III) Retro+ - White / Cement Grey - Fire Red in a re-retro version. This was done in 2003.

This might be one of the most popular Air Jordan’s ever. It has won numerous polls when questioning which the greatest sneaker through all times is. Air Jordan fans also freaked out when they retroed this model in 1994. Shoe stores once again had major problems selling them though.

The Air Jordan II (2) was designed by Bruce Kilgore and just as its predecessor  it showed a great innovative design. The low-tops were very stylish, produced in Italy and were far from the ordinary basketball shoe.
The Air Jordan II (2) was released in 1986/1987.Michael scored an average 37.1 points per game in the 1986-1987 season and became the first player since Wilt Chamberlain to top 3,000 points in a season. In November/December he scored 40 points or more in nine straight games. On April 16th he scored a total of 61 points against the Atlanta Hawks setting a new NBA record. Michael also played in the All-Star Game, won the Slam-Dunk Championship, and was named to the All-NBA First Team.
The Air Jordan 2 (II) Retro - Black / Chrome were retroed in 2004 in limited quantities. Just like the Air Jordan 1 (I)’s they sold very poorly and were found on discount racks on Footlockers nationwide.

Air Jordan 1 (I)

October 20th, 2009

In the 1984, Michael was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the No.3 overall pick. This was after seeing Jordan perform a wonderful three years in North Carolina and co-captain and star of the Olympic basketball team in 1984 which as you all know picked up the gold medal. Nike understood that this player would turn out to be something else and signed him up to create a line of shoes and appearal.
The Air Jordan 1 (I)  marked a new era in basketball shoewear design. There has been multiple fakes of this shoe and also other shoe brands made models where you could see lots of similarities with Air Jordan 1 (I).

The Air Jordan 1 (I) Retro 2003 - White / Black - Red  were released as retros in 2003 and sold very poorly. Noone seemed to want them. They went on sale for $125 at some stores in the US.
In 2001 they re-retroed them and this time around the demand was a lot greater. At some stores they sold out in just a few minutes.
